Yesterday an AI tried to talk my brother into calling me back 😅
And the best part? It wasn’t a chat.
It actually phoned him.
We were testing PollyReach, an AI agent that can phone people on your behalf.
I simply gave it a task:
“Call him and tell him to call me back.”
And that’s when things got really interesting.
At first the AI spoke English, then partway through the conversation it switched to Ukrainian all by itself. The call went to a Ukrainian number, and everything worked just fine.
But what cracked us up most was how self-assured it was on the call 😅
My brother says:
“OK, fine, I’ll call now.”
And at that point the AI didn’t want to hang up 😂
It literally started insisting:
“Yes, yes, call now.”
In other words, it was genuinely trying to hold on until my brother dialled me while still on that same call 😅
Admittedly, there are still a few funny moments:
when it started reading out numbers, it sounded a bit odd 😂
But the idea itself is very practical.
For example, AI agents like this can already:
• sit on hold with a call centre in your place for 30–50 minutes
• book restaurant tables or appointments
• call clients or do follow-ups
• work as a phone assistant for a business
And interestingly, after the call you get the transcript, a summary of the conversation and the full dialogue, all saved in your account.
Long story short, voice AI is slowly turning from a “fun feature” into a genuinely useful tool.
